My Favorite Ways to Stay Active During Quarantine

Staying active during the quarantine has made such a difference in my overall well being. I found that I actually have more time and desire to complete workouts.

I do miss my long weekend runs through the beautiful neighborhoods of Miami, but for now, home workouts will suffice. At the very least, take a break from your computer and get outside for some fresh air and sunlight. All the time spent indoors and on our computers isn’t good for our health either.

Exercising doesn’t have to be complicated; go easy on your body and find ways to enjoy it. Here are a few ways I have been moving during quarantine:

  • Walking and running around my neighborhood or along paths away from people
  • Riding Bicycles
  • Walking our dogs
  • Dancing to Spotify Playlists
  • Jumping Rope (a lot hard than I remember as a kid 😉)
  • Yard games like Soccer, Frisbee or Volleyball
  • Video Workouts (Some of my favorites below)

Favorite Videos Resources:

#1 DWTS’s Pro Dancers Maks and Peta at Home Work Outs

I didn’t start watching Dancing With the Stars until a few years ago but quickly fell in love with the show. Before moving to Miami, I was a ballet dancer and jazz dancer. It takes a lot of stamina and strength to be a dancer, and ballroom is no different. In these videos on both Instagram and Youtube, Maks and Peta host cardio dance workouts that are difficult, but so fun. The videos are relaxed and not overly edited, it feels like you are in a class with them. Here is one of my favorites below:

#2 Yoga with Adriene, Easy and Calm Yoga on Youtube

I tried yoga my junior year of college. Not many people know this, but I had a terrible knee injury in 2017 and was unable to workout until summer of 2018, a whole year later. I wanted to start working out again, but was worried about reinjuring myself in a high intensity workout class. Yoga seemed gentle enough to begin working out again. I recommend that you take yoga classes in person because there are many small body movements that are difficult to master at first, so having a personal teacher is very beneficial, but since we are currently at home, I have linked my favorite channel below.
